About the Founder

He built Australia's first automotive
innovation hub. Now he's building its AI factory.

Nathan Nguyen Luu was the Inaugural Innovation Community Manager of MTAiQ — the innovation arm of the Motor Trades Association of Queensland. xSeraAI is the natural result of a decade spent inside the industry he's now building AI for.

The innovation hub that started it all.

In 2017, under the leadership of Dr. Brett Dale (then Group CEO of MTAQ, MTA Institute, and MTAiQ), Nathan was brought in to build MTAiQ — Australia's first dedicated automotive innovation hub. His role: connect the motor trades industry with emerging technology, build the community infrastructure, and identify where innovation could solve real operational problems across 6,000+ member businesses.

That experience planted the seed of the narrow-deep thesis. The automotive industry didn't need more generic technology adapted from other sectors. It needed its own innovation infrastructure, built from its own data, by people who understood its language.

xSeraAI is the direct result of that insight. Every vertical needs intelligence built from its own proprietary data — and Nathan spent a decade inside the first vertical, building the industry relationships and domain knowledge that make it possible.

This is not a tech founder searching for a problem. This is the original innovation community builder for one of Australia's most established industry bodies, returning with the AI infrastructure to fulfil the promise that MTAiQ started.

The Journey

Five phases. One thesis.

Every vertical needs intelligence built from its own data. Nathan has been building toward this for a decade.

01
2017 · The Seed

MTAiQ Founded

Nathan and Dr. Brett Dale launch Australia's first automotive innovation hub under MTAQ. Nathan builds the innovation ecosystem — connecting 6,000+ member businesses with emerging technology. The insight: this industry needs its own infrastructure, not generic tech imported from other sectors.

02
2018–2024 · The Thesis

xSeraAI Conceived

Nathan takes the lesson learned at MTAiQ — every vertical needs intelligence built from its own data — and begins designing the platform to deliver it at scale. NLP Master Practitioner certification. SaaS product development. AI architecture research. Building the capability stack needed to execute.

03
2025 · The Architecture

ATHENA CORE Designed

The knowledge operating system takes shape: Vault (data layer), Engine (model layer), Orchestrator (agent layer). A generic architecture that powers vertical-specific intelligence. Partnership with SophiieAI delivers 175+ live AI agent deployments — the real-world data pipeline that feeds the DSLM training loop.

04
2026 · The Return

CRC-P Round 19 — Automotive

Nathan returns to MTAQ — the organisation where it all started — with the AI factory ready. The same industry partner, now as a CRC-P consortium member. The circle completes. Automotive DSLM pilot with 200 MTAQ member businesses. University research partnership confirmed.

05
2027–28 · The Scale

CRC Round 28 — National AI Factory

The $50M play. Automotive proven, methodology published, evaluation framework peer-reviewed. Multi-vertical expansion: allied health, trades, professional services. xSeraAI becomes Australia's sovereign domain-specific AI infrastructure.

The positioning message for CRC-P assessors: Nathan is not a tech founder applying for a grant. He is the original innovation community builder for one of Australia's most established industry bodies — now returning with the AI infrastructure to fulfil the promise that MTAiQ started. Every consortium relationship in this application traces back to the decade he spent building from the inside.

Consortium & Advisory Network

Pre-existing relationships, not cold introductions.

Every partner in the CRC-P consortium has a multi-year relationship with the founder. These connections were built through years of working inside the industry — not assembled for a grant application.

Prof. Michael Milford

QUT Centre for Robotics · Lead Research Partner

ARC Laureate Fellow. ATSE Fellow. Former Microsoft Research Faculty Fellow. Joint Director, QUT Centre for Robotics. 9-year relationship with Nathan — dating to the 2017 SoftBank QUT Bluebox Accelerator where Nathan placed 2nd. Extensive CRC experience via iMOVE CRC with Caterpillar and Mining3.

Dr. Sue Keay

UNSW AI Institute · Strategic Advisor

Director, UNSW AI Institute. Chair, Robotics Australia Group. 2025 H20 AI 100 (most influential people in AI globally). ATSE Fellow. Featured Nathan's work in the 2018 Australian Robotics & Automation Roadmap, launched at Parliament House.

MTAQ

Motor Trades Association of Queensland · Industry Partner

Peak body for Queensland motor trades. 6,000+ member businesses across 11 specialist divisions. Nathan's relationship with MTAQ dates to 2017 when he was recruited to build MTAiQ as the organisation's first Innovation Community Manager. 8+ year partnership.

Luke Kelleher & SophiieAI

Delivery Layer Partner

175+ deployed AI agents generating live operational data for DSLM training. The customer-facing delivery channel that transforms xSeraAI's domain-specific models into deployed industry intelligence.

Luke Kelleher & SophiieAI

Data Engine Partner

175+ deployed AI agents generating continuous proprietary training signal for DSLM development. Luke Kelleher's SophiieAI isn't a downstream consumer of xSeraAI models — it's the upstream data engine that makes domain-specific AI possible. Every Sophiie interaction feeds the continuous learning loop. Without this deployment network, the narrow-deep thesis has no production data pipeline.

Extended network: Dr. Brett Dale — who led MTAQ and MTAiQ during Nathan's tenure — now serves as CEO of AMA Queensland, creating a natural bridge from automotive (CRC-P Round 19) into the healthcare vertical for future expansion. The relationships built during the MTAiQ years continue to open pathways across Australian industry.
